Britney Spears has been recording her seventh studio album for God knows how long now, and despite it being due in stores in less than three months, the Holy Spearit hasn’t quite wrapped things up yet. In a new interview with Rap-Up, British singer-songwriter Jessie J has revealed that she’s just headed into the studio to write lyrics to a Britney demo she’s been given by the superstar’s team.
“I am going in the studio tomorrow to try and write a song for Britney,” Jessie tells Rap-Up.com via phone from her native London. “I was sent a backing track for her album and they specifically asked me to write on it, so I’m going to go in the studio on my night off.”
While she is unable to reveal the track’s producer, she did rule out hitmaker Dr. Luke, adding, “It’s not who people expect it to be. It’s good, it’s very good.”
“I’m hoping that I’ll be able to crack it,” she says. “It’s a very U.K. kinda sound, which is why I think they want me to write it. I’m gonna put a little Jessie J spin on it and get Britney singing about grabbing her crotch. You never know.”
The ‘British’ sound falls in line with previous reports about the singer’s album.
Now, remember that article MTV did pitting Britney against GaGa for the top pop diva of 2011? Well they also held a poll to determine a winner, and after more than 100,000 votes and 1,100 comments on their blog post, one diva clearly came out on top with almost double the votes — Britney!
“According to the voters, Britney Spears will be the dominant diva in 2011. Spears took home 62 percent of the total vote, notching well over 70,000 votes over the 24 hour period when the poll was left open. Gaga acquitted herself nicely, picking up 38 percent of the vote (approximately 45,000 clicks) in the poll. Many fans seemed to be sharply divided within themselves, as they admitted fandom for both ladies in question…” [source]
There’s definitely a lot riding on Britney’s shoulders this year. Perhaps that’s why the recording of her album has taken so long, to ensure everything is just perfect. Remember, Britney has been working on new music since around the time “3″ was released, and her schedule has remained virtually empty throughout all of 2010, giving her plenty of time to focus on the project. Meanwhile a much busier Lady GaGa has had to record her third album Born This Way amongst a jam-packed schedule of promoting The Fame Monster, non-stop touring, magazine photoshoots, performing, working at Polaroid and much more.
